By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Share and discuss examples of creative work that raise awareness of climate change.
- Engage in Cultural Campaigning: Explore the strategies and challenges involved in cultural campaigning for climate justice and identify successful examples of creative activism
- Apply Intersectional Analysis: Explain the concept of intersectionality and its relevance in the context of the climate crisis, recognising how various social identities intersect with environmental issues.
- Describe ways communities keep their culture alive after being displaced.
- Reflect on why it's important to listen to those most affected by the climate crisis.
- Identify Greenwashing and 'Artwashing': Recognise and evaluate the tactics employed by polluting industries to co-opt cultural narratives and creative practices, understanding the implications this presents to public understanding of the role of these industries in the climate crisis.
- Understand Cultural Loss: Articulate the ways in which climate change impacts cultural practices, heritage and identity.
- Representation in Popular Culture: Analyse how climate issues are portrayed in media and discuss the implications of these representations for public perception and awareness
- Understand how climate change affects culture, traditions, and identity.
- Utilise Creative Practice for Advocacy: Develop insights into how creative practices can be harnessed as tools for climate advocacy and social change, fostering a sense of agency in participants to contribute to climate justice.
- Analyse a successful campaign and think about how to apply similar ideas in your own work.
